I have 2 window scrims, bought at least 50 years ago (used regularly they still do a great job and it appears they may last forever*). However, I needed something for cleaning my spectacles having given up on microfibre cloths specially marketed for that purpose. In reality, they merely spread specks and greasy smears all around without removing them. In frustration I contemplated sacrificing one of my venerable scrims for the purpose but couldn't bear to take the scissors to it. There were no scrims to be found in my local area so I took to the internet and there was little to be found except for Woods of Harrogate who looked to be rather intimating and upmarket for such a commodity. But they were brilliant, despatching with speed and efficiency what is probably the humblest item they carry. So, many thanks to them and although I've only rarely and fleetingly visited Harrogate - a long way away - I'll make a point of visiting them when I'm due a trip in May next year.
*I must remember to tell my granddaughters to give them respect when they inherit them. (Not sexist - I don't have grandsons.)
